Apple Crisp

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup oatmeal
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 8 tablespoons (1 stick) butter, melted
  • 1/4 tablespoon chopped pecans
  • 5 medium-size sweet red apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • Vanilla ice cream for serving

    Directions:

      1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9x11-inch baking pan and set aside.
      2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, oatmeal, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, melted butter, and chopped pecans. Mix well.
      3. Toss apple slices with lemon juice to coat evenly. Arrange apples in prepared pan and cover with crumble mixture.
      4. Bake 30–40 minutes until crust is golden brown.
      5. Remove from oven and cool for a few minutes before serving with vanilla ice cream.
